my mazatlán mission trip testimony story. / mi testimonio misionero de mazatlán.
God spoke to me about the children in Mexico, and how i would go there and change their lives forever. sure enough, i applied to mission trip through my university, and found myself in Mexico City at an orphanage a month later. 🇲🇽
i returned to Mexico, this time to Mazatlán for six months in 2019, and prayed for revival and healing in the hearts of everyone there, as well as interceding in prayer for all the countries of the world. God broke down a lot of resentment i was holding in my heart. after He did that, i got to fully experience the gift of the Holy Spirit guiding me through the streets (i love stopping and praying for people i’m led to) and also helped me see transformation in the lives of the people around me. it was confirmation that i needed to be there to serve.
i remember the urgent desire of i had to “make money” and “earn donations” when we were fundraising for our outreach trip to Nepal at the end of our discipleship training program.
i sold some of the few clothes i had packed and brought to MX, went to a park and sang for donations, and sent letters to my family.
God spoke to me clearly, and said:
“be still, and know I am God.” (psalm 46:10)
i couldn’t make sense of it. and for someone who was in honors classes in high school, i yearn to learn and work hard. it was counter intuitive. but sure enough, the more i surrendered in obedience, the more dollars came in (even though it seemed like light years before it came through— it was in God’s timing). and i started to notice that many times God waits until the last minute! hahaha
as im writing this, we’re still $1400 away from our goal, which covers our flights, lodging, food, and registration fee for YWAM’s Carnaval ministry, and rooms are limited on the missionary base.
where there is unity, God commands a blessing. i believe that God has a big plan for Mazatlan, beyond my wildest dreams. He has planted in my heart a love for Mexican culture, and my gift of translation will be a benefit to other foreigners seeking to share their testimony and prayers with those who do not speak English.
thank you for taking the time to read this. let me know how i can be praying for you. <3
