brownie testimonies.

i’ve been SO amazed by the fact that we’re not even on Mexican soil yet, but that doesn’t stop God from beginning the mission for us on our own turf.

we had three bake sales last week, and i’m writing one blog for each sale. too much to jam pack into one blog — seriously! starting with one outside of the Phoenix Convention Center. several of the ORS convention attendees stopped to chat with us. one, in particular, ran student-led Christian organizations at various schools (shoutout, ASU! forks up!)

i was consistently surprised by the folk that were willing to donate, but declined a brownie or muffin. generosity isn’t dead. 🥺 one girl in particular struck me when she asked us if we were Catholic, and if the church on a parallel street was ours. she didn’t elaborate on her disapproval of the religion, but i would have been willing to listen to her story. as someone who was raised Catholic, i have a lot of reasons to turning to a life without denomination, but more on that later… ;)

one dad came up on his bike. 🚲

next to him, his son on a small white bike. he told us his story about his son’s mom being an alcoholic, and how things have been challenging lately. he searched deeply in his wallet for $1-2, and we were happy to oblige. his son was sweet, excitedly grabbing a double fudge brownie, and telling me about his favorite types of bikes. Brett prayed for the dad, the Spirit moved and stirred in everyone’s hearts. and before we knew it they were off.

that night, we also met several homeless women and men, and we gifted them brownies and muffins. one man, Richard *, spoke to us about how the Revived Geneva Translation (GNT) was his favorite translation, translated from the scholarly editions of the Greek New Testament and the Hebrew Scriptures that comprise the Old Testament. i learned something new that night!

i’m hoping these testimonies and photos bless you. 🙏🏼✝️
